Governor of Maha working under direction of union govt- Pritam Says situation in Maharashtra similar to that of Uttarakhand in 2016
The president of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Pritam Singh said that just like it happened in Uttarakhand a similar game of sabotage of democracy by the abetment of Union government is being played in Maharashtra. He was addressing media persons at state headquarters of the Congress party here on Monday. PCC chief said that it is clear that the governor of Maharashtra is working under the pressure of the union government. Singh said that the combine of Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress has the majority in the assembly but the manner in which the President’s rule was revoked in the middle of the night and Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar were administered oath of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively reminds one of the similar episode that was enacted in Uttarakhand in the year 2016. The PCC chief expressed confidence that like it did in Uttarakhand, the court would protect democracy in Maharashtra too. The Congress leader claimed that in floor test everything would become clear and everyone knows that the combine of Shiv Sena, NCP, Congress and independents has the comfortable majority and only Ajit Pawar would remain with the BJP. He said that it is unfortunate that the BJP government is determined to murder democracy and claimed that the whole episode of Maharashtra would teach a befitting lesson to the union government and BJP.
On the result of the municipal corporation election of Roorkee where Congress candidate finished second, ahead of the official candidate of BJP in the Mayoral election, Pritam Singh said that the Congress party accepts its defeat gracefully but the elections have proved that the people have rejected BJP. He said that workers of Congress party worked hard in the elections and the party showed a good performance there. The PCC president added that the people of Roorkee have completely rejected BJP and its candidate about whom chief minister during an election meeting had said that the candidate has a direct access to his bedroom.
