AIIMS Rishikesh & The Hans Foundation to provide free treatment at select Govt centers
The state government is committed to providing better health facilities to the common people in the state. In this regard, in the presence of chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat an agreement with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh for five years was signed to provide higher level medical services through Government Allopathic Hospital, Dhanaulti (Tehri district), Primary Health Centre, Raiwala, Primary Health Centre, Thano and sub-centre at Ramnagar Danda (Dehradun district) at secretariat on Thursday. The services will be extended if found satisfactory. The institute will provide prenatal, child birth and post natal, youth health, family welfare, national programmes, emergency medical services, OPD and IPD services free of cost and the state government will not pay anything to the institute.
To provide quality medical services to the people, the Uttarakhand state government and The Hans Foundation, New Delhi has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which the foundation will manage Government Allopathic Hospital, Khati, in Bageshwar district for five years and upon satisfactory services, the period will be extended by two more years.
The foundation will provide one MBBS doctor, one pharmacist, one ward boy and one sanitation worker while also providing 29 types of essential medicines to people free of cost. The foundation will provide prenatal, child birth and post natal, youth health, family elfare, emergency medical services, OPD and IPD services free of cost and the state government will not pay anything to the foundation.
A discussion was also held on the opening of an eye bank in AIIMS, Rishikesh. On the initiative of the chief minister, an agreement was reached to run sub-divisional hospitals at Thano, Raiwala, Danda and Narendranagar by AIIMS with the health department. The beneficiaries of Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana will also get medical facilities at AIIMS, Rishikesh. Health secretary Nitish Jha, AIIMS Rishikesh director Dr Ravi Kant, Health director-general Dr TK Pant and special executive officer of The Hans Foundation, SM Mehta were among those present on the occasion.
