Light rain & snowfall likely in 5 mountain districts today

Minimum temperature drops to 4 °C in Dehradun on Thursday
At a time when the State is suffering from a considerable deficit of rain and snowfall this winter season, the weather in the mountainous regions is expected to take a turn on Friday. The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rainfall/snowfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of dense fog likely to occur at isolated places of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Ground frost is likely to occur at isolated places in the mountainous regions of the State. Further, shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur in some parts of Dehradun, Pauri and Nainital districts today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky today with mist/shallow fog likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 22 degrees Celsius and six degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Friday.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Dehradun dropped two degrees below normal to four degrees Celsius on Thursday. The maximum temperature rising two degrees above normal to 21.6 degrees Celsius and sunny conditions provided some relief from the cold during the daylight hours. Similar conditions were experienced in other parts of the State with the maximum temperature in Pantnagar dropping three degrees below normal to 16.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature dropping two degrees below normal to 2.9 degrees Celsius. In Mukteshwar, the maximum temperature of 12.5 degrees Celsius was one degree above normal while the minimum tempeture was two degrees below normal at -0.4 degree Celsius. The maximum temperature in New Tehri dropped two degrees below normal to 13.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature dropped a degree below normal to 1.9 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
