MCD Board meeting might get deferred due to Covid

Entry restricted inside MCD premises

Due to the recently found Covid-19 positive case in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), the date of board meeting might get deferred. The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ was planning to conduct a board meeting in MCD on December 10 as according to him, there has been no board meeting this year since January due to Covid-19 pandemic. He said that the corporation was planning to hold a meeting on Thursday but it has not been confirmed yet due to the revealing of covid 19 case in the corporation. “We are planning to conduct the board meeting before December 15 but nothing is fixed yet. The corporation has restricted public entry in premises and we cannot allow the entry of councillors and other members in premises if the positive cases keep recurring. We are considering dates for the meeting for now as it is quite crucial and we will make the decision soon,” said ‘Gama’.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has restricted public entry in its premises from Tuesday onwards after an employee was tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ informed that the test result of an employee was found positive for Covid-19 on Monday morning after which the corporation restrained the entry of public in MCD as per the Covid guidelines to prevent the spread of infection among locals and MCD employees. It is noteworthy to mention here that several Covid-19 positive cases were found in MCD premises from August 5 to October 6 but the positive case found in the corporation on Monday is the first case after two months. Moreover, the officials also informed that the employees of the corporation will continue to do their work on Tuesday besides restraining public entry and if anyone has any issues, they can contact the officials through phone calls.
