The newly appointed president of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC), Ganesh Godiyal will officially take charge on Sunday. The Congress party has made arrangements to make the event grand. The party has directed all its senior leaders, heads of frontal organisation and workers to attend the event at Congress Bhawan. All the senior leaders of the party and the State in-charge of Congress, Kumari Selja are expected to take part in the programme.

In a swift move on Tuesday, the Congress high command handed over the reins of the PCC to senior leader Ganesh Godiyal. The party also appointed former PCC president and six time MLA from Chakrata, Pritam Singh as head of the campaign committee and former cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat as the head of the election management committee.

The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni said that appointment of Godiyal on the post of PCC president and that of Pritam Singh and Harak Singh Rawat on positions of head of campaign committee and election management committee respectively, has enthused the party workers. She said a large number of party workers will attend the programme at Congress Bhawan on Sunday. Dasauni claimed that Godiyal, Pritam Singh and Harak Singh Rawat along with the leader of opposition in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya and deputy leader of Congress legislature party Bhuwan Kapdi are the five ‘Pandavs’ who will give a new direction to the Congress party and will decimate the BJP in Uttarakhand.
