Godiyal assumes charge as PCC chief, gives message of united struggle

The newly appointed Pradesh Congress Committee president and Congress Working Committee member Ganesh Godiyal officially assumed charge as the PCC president here at the Congress Bhawan on Sunday. Addressing a gathering attended by other senior leaders including former chief minister Harish Rawat, leader of opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya, Chakrata MLA and newly appointed head of the party’s State campaign committee Pritam Singh and head of the party’s State election management committee Harak Singh Rawat along with former PCC chief Karan Mahra, among others, Godiyal exhorted all to “carry forward the Congress’ tradition, which had worked to unite the nation and strengthen the society”.

He said, “Every party worker will work unitedly under the new leadership to make the party reach new heights in the 2027 polls. Our path may be difficult but our resolve is strong. We will all move forward with new enthusiasm and responsibility from today. Each step I take will be in accordance with the trust of the public and dignity of the party organisation,” he said.

The PCC chief further said that this time is for struggle and not for lectures and that the party has never turned back from struggle. The party does not have a fight with any individual but is against injustice, arrogance and lies and the Congress will emerge victorious, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Arya said that the leadership may change but the aim remains the same- to win the trust of the public and to stand up for the rights of every citizen. Harak Singh Rawat said that the Congress will reply to BJP’s divisive policy with one that unites the State. Pritam Singh opined that the changes made in the party organisation will give new energy, boost unity and is a sign of faith. Mahra said that the people of Uttarakhand are tired of the lies and corruption of the BJP. The people will place their trust in the policies of the Congress in the 2027 elections, he added.
