Covid-19 cases climb to 81211 in U’khand

Nine deaths, 725 new cases reported on Friday

The number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in Uttarakhand climbed to 81211 on Friday with the state health department reporting 725 fresh cases of the pandemic on Friday. The authorities also reported the death of nine patients of the disease on Friday after which the death toll mounted to 1341 in the state. The health department discharged 508 patients from different hospitals on the day. A total of 72987 patients have recovered from the disease so far.

The recovery percentage has come below 90 percent and now it stands at 89.97 percent.

The latest surge in the number of active cases and decrease in the number of recoveries is causing concern to the authorities. In fact in the last ten days the numbers of fresh cases outnumber the recovered cases. Another cause of concern is the increase in infection rate in the mountainous districts.

 Two patients of the disease each were reported dead at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital on Friday. One patient each was reported dead at Sushila Tiwari Government hospital Haldwani, Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun, Kailash hospital Dehradun, District hospital Gopeshwar and Himalayan hospital Dehradun on Friday.  

The provisional state capital Dehradun is continuing to be worst affected by the contagion. Here 256 new patients of Covid-19 were reported on Friday. The authorities reported 115 patients from Nainital, 79 from Pauri, 57 from Chamoli, 55 from Pithoragarh, 43 from Haridwar, 30 from Udham Singh Nagar,21 from Uttarkashi, 20 from Almora, 18 each from Bageshwar and Rudraprayag and 13 from Tehri on  Friday.

The state now has 5934 active cases of the disease. Dehradun is maintaining at top of the table of active cases with 1930 cases while with 618 active cases Nainital is now at second spot. Haridwar is at third spot with 544 active cases. Pithoragarh has 401, Pauri 394, Chamoli 340, Almora 330, Tehri 319, Udham Singh Nagar 324, Uttarkashi 213, Bageshwar 198 and Champawat 175 active cases of the disease. With only 148 active cases of Covid-19, Rudraprayag is at the bottom of the table.
