The chief secretary, Anand Bardhan directed the secretary of Tourism to prepare a detailed action plan aimed at transforming Tehri Lake and its surrounding areas into a world-class tourist hub. This plan would be presented at the next meeting. He gave this direction during a meeting of the high-powered committee overseeing the Asian Development Bank-assisted Tehri Lake Area Development Project. The project director at the meeting presented a compliance report based on the instructions from the fourth HPC meeting along with a status update on the 19 sub-projects currently in progress.
CS sought information about the tender process and its current status. He sounded satisfied with the progress of various initiatives involving roads, Dobra Chanti Park, Tiwar village and solid waste management project.
He also emphasised that all the officers should conduct thorough ground surveys before preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for the future projects. “This approach is intended to ensure that all aspects of a project are considered and it will help avoid any potential cost spike later,” he said. He also advised avoiding consultancy services for smaller projects, except for significant undertakings.
