Girls to shine in sports with Women’s Sports College: Arya

Sports minister Rekha Arya said that the establishment of the Women’s Sports College will enable girls from Uttarakhand to bring glory to the State in the sports arena. On Friday, Arya inspected the site of the college being constructed in Lohaghat, Champawat district. During her visit, she instructed the work executing agency and department officials to complete the construction work on schedule and to ensure high quality of construction. 

While at the site, she inspected the completed synthetic track and interacted with the young athletes who were present for practice. Arya said that all sports facilities at the college are being upgraded to meet international standards. She received a progress report on the construction work from the officials of the implementing agency and provided necessary instructions. 

Sports minister stated that a running track (athletic track) and a football ground will be built at the Women’s Sports College. Additionally, the construction includes an astroturf hockey ground, volleyball court, basketball court, three hostels accommodating a total of 300 girls, staff quarters, an administrative building, a multipurpose hall, an academic block, an auditorium and a guest house.
