Girl’s body found a day after alleged suicide

The body of a school girl who had jumped into the Sarayu river here was recovered on Thursday. Class XII student Richa Gadia had jumped into the river on Wednesday morning from the Sarayu bridge near Saman temple in Bageshwar. Her body was found the next day at Seraghat. After it was identified by her uncle, the body was sent to Almora for post mortem by the police.

Richa was a student of the government inter college in Bhatkhola where her widow mother also works as a class IV employee. It is learnt that the girl did not go to school on Wednesday and instead reached the Saman temple wearing her school uniform in a taxi. She then jumped into the river after which the police searched for her till late on Wednesday evening. While the police also started investigating the incident the personnel of the State Disaster Response Force also joined the search operation.  On Thursday morning the police found a girl’s body at Seraghat. Anand Gadia identified it as that of his niece Richa.
