GDMC & district hospital doctors on alert mode for Holi

The authorities in Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) and Deen Dayal Upadhyay district hospital have instructed doctors to remain vigilant for any incidents that may occur during Holi. Notably, though the OPD department will be closed on this festive occasion, the hospital will still be ready to treat patients. It has been observed that there has been an increase in cases of accidents, allergies and injuries related to Holi celebrations.

Regarding the GDMC hospital’s preparations for Holi, chief medical superintendent Dr RS Bisht stated that the OPD services will not be available on that day; however, the emergency department will be fully operational. To ensure patient care, the administration has emphasised the need for all staff to maintain activity in the emergency department during this time.

He also added that extra staff has been assigned to the emergency department in preparation for Holi. Two doctors from each department will be on duty in the emergency area on the premises. Further to prevent any incidents of theft or other occurrences on campus, security guards have been instructed to stay vigilant. The police have also been requested to conduct patrols around the GDMC premises during this time.

Bisht urged individuals to refrain from consuming alcohol during Holi and to avoid reckless driving.

Further, the medical superintendent of the district hospital Dr VS Chauhan stated that the hospital administration will be proactively addressing emergencies during the Holi festivities. He said that incidents of roadside accidents tend to rise during this time. To prepare for this, the emergency department has been put on high alert, with emergency medical officers available around the clock. Additionally, doctors from all departments have been instructed to remain vigilant and ready to respond to any serious cases that may arise. He also added that security guards have been assigned to specific areas to ensure they fulfill their responsibilities within the hospital premises during Holi.
