GBUAT students complete international internship in France

Twenty students from GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) have successfully returned after completing a month-long international internship in France under the Defia Consortium programme. According to officials, this internship lasted from March 9 to April 4, 2025, as a result of a collaborative agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of France and GBPUAT.

The aim of the programme was to provide practical experience and professional training to students in modern agricultural technology, food science and food technology at leading agricultural and food institutions in France. The selected students came from diverse faculties, including agriculture, agricultural engineering, agribusiness management, community science and biotechnology, which facilitated a multidimensional exchange of knowledge, they said.

After returning from the internship, the vice chancellor of the University, Manmohan Singh Chauhan met with the students. During this meeting, the students shared their experiences and provided insights about their technical learning, cultural exchange and sustainable agricultural systems through presentations. Chauhan praised their achievements and encouraged them to leverage this experience to foster innovation in Indian agriculture and the food system.

This international initiative was coordinated by the Director of international affairs of the University, HJ Shiv Prasad. Highlighting the importance of the programme, he said that such experiences are essential for students to develop professional skills on a global scale. The students expressed their gratitude to the vice chancellor for providing them with the opportunity to intern at prestigious international institutes.
