GBPUAT professors interact with farmers in 3 villages

An expert team of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) visited three villages under Sitarganj block of Udham Singh Nagar district- Sisona, Jagtarpur and Govindnagar-as part of an awareness programme organised under Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan and interacted directly with the farmers and rural community. The villagers were informed about organic farming, millet cultivation, improved varieties of crops, modern agricultural techniques and government schemes.
On this occasion, the professor of Agronomy, B D Singh; assistant professor, department of Agricultural Communication, Arpita Sharma Kandpal and professor, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Swati were present from the university. Also, the officials from the department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Sugarcane attended.  

Addressing the programme, Singh highlighted the measures to get more production at low cost, the latest techniques of crop management and the utility of coarse grain cultivation. He said that with millets being rich in nutrition and capable of withstanding the adverse effects of climate change, their production could prove beneficial for farmers.
