GBPUAT celebrates World Bee Day

To mark the World Bee Day, an exhibition of beekeeping products was organised by various beekeepers of Uttarakhand and Krishi Vigyan Kendra of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology (GBPUAT) in the Raj Bhavan premises. The Governor, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) visited the exhibition and interacted with the beekeepers. He said that Uttarakhand has received special blessing of nature in the field of beekeeping. He further said that promotion of honey production would not only increase income of the beekeepers but create self-employment opportunities for the local people. He emphasised that the medicinal properties of honey produced in Uttarakhand are special.  He also felicitated a number of beekeepers on the occasion.

The vice-chancellor of GBPUAT, Manmohan Singh Chauhan said that under the ‘One University, One Research’ initiative, so far 750 farmers have been trained in beekeeping. They would now provide training to hundreds of farmers, he added.
