The local businessmen met the Dehradun municipal commissioner Abhishek Ruhela on Thursday and appealed to him to take action against illegal encroachments by vendors and an illegal parking system outside the Dispensary Road situated Rajiv Gandhi multipurpose complex.

The members of Doon Valley Mahanagar Udyog Vyapar Mandal (DVMUVM) said to the commissioner that illegal encroachment by various vendors creates nuisance in the area that affects pedestrians, customers and the shopkeepers of the complex. People park their vehicles randomly outside the complex despite having a proper parking place nearby that frequently causes traffic jams in the area, said the shopkeepers. They said that these issues increase manifold during the weekend when the number of vendors as well as footfall in the area increase exponentially.

The president of DVMUVM, Pankaj Masson appealed to the commissioner to take cognisance of the matter and take action against the encroachments in the area. Masson said that the commissioner has issued orders to the land section of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to take action against the illegal encroachments in the area.
