Inspector General (Garhwal) Ajay Rautela conducted a review meeting with his subordinates in Dehradun police department here on Tuesday. Considering the upcoming passing out parade (POP) at Indian Military Academy (IMA), he also emphasised on conducting checking and verification process of people from outside with more alertness.
During the meeting, IG Rautela directed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Superintendents of Police (city and rural) to ensure that the ongoing campaign for arresting accused involved in gangs, or with reward announced on their arrest and other absconders is done with more energy. He said that the campaign in the district is not being conducted as per the expectations.
He also directed that the investigation in the registered cases of land disputes should be taken up on priority basis. He said that if necessary the accused should be booked under the Gangster Act as well. For the pending investigations of last six months he directed the Circle Officers (CO) concerned to take review meetings in their areas from time to time.
Taking cognisance of the recent illegal mining activity in the state he said that to ensure that such activities do not get encouraged, the cases can also be booked under the relevant sections of the Mines and Minerals (Regulation and Development) Act.
