The Garhwal additional commissioner Uttam Singh Chauhan ordered authorities concerned to file FIRs and conduct probes via Special Investigation Team (SIT) in land fraud cases where fraud is clear. He issued these instructions during a meeting of the land fraud coordination committee at his camp office in Dehradun on Tuesday.
The committee discussed 58 land fraud cases from seven districts of Garhwal division. The officials resolved eight cases on the spot after reviewing reports and complaints. Of the total 58 cases, 45 cases were from Dehradun, six from Pauri, two each from Tehri and Rudraprayag and one each from Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi. The committee sought reports within a month on most cases. The additional commissioner said that a clear view should be taken in cases where fraud is evident and FIRs should be lodged without delay.
Chauhan directed all officials to take land fraud cases seriously and clear them without delay. He said that cases should not remain pending at department level and that court-related cases should proceed in court. Chauhan also asked the officials concerned to submit their reports as soon as possible in land fraud cases. He stressed the need for follow up and for implementation of court orders related to land fraud.
He also directed department officials to avoid keeping cases pending at their level and to make sure that follow up action is taken in all cases. Proper implementation of court orders related to land fraud should be a priority. The aim is to enable resolution of disputes in a time bound manner, he added.
The meeting was attended by officials from various departments including Forestry, Revenue and the municipal bodies. Chauhan called for coordination among all stakeholders and a collective approach to bring justice to the victims of land fraud.
