The Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi on Wednesday distributed cycles and school kits among 300 schoolgirls from rural and low income groups studying in 18 different government schools at the programme organised by RBL Bank under the ‘Umeed’ initiative at the Government Inter College, Kishanpur.
Joshi exhorted the rural girls to seek empowerment through education. “The government’s goal is that no girl should remain deprived of education,” he added.
He further said that a bicycle is not only a means of transportation but also a symbol of self-reliance and self-confidence. “Umeed is not just a scheme but an effort to give wings to girls’ dreams,” he declared.
Thanking RBL Bank, he said that it is working to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan, ‘Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter.’
Joshi also expressed his pleasure at the increasing number of students at Government Inter College, Kishanpur and said that this symbolises the positive changes taking place in the field of education. “The increase in the number of students in the school demonstrates the ever-increasing confidence of parents in the education system of government schools,” he commented.
