Gadkari offers help in decongesting Dehradun traffic

Attends convocation of Graphic Era University in Dehradun

The Union minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has assured that his ministry will help in solving the problem of traffic congestion in Dehradun. He was addressing the 12th convocation of Graphic Era Deemed University in Dehradun on Tuesday.
He said that many records have been set in the field of construction of bridges, tunnels, roads, highways in the last few years. The Union Minister said that the union government is continuously working in the sector of green energy. He said that since Hydrogen gas is the fuel of our future, work is being done to make hydrogen from organic municipal waste, which is a very cheap option. The Union minister revealed that he himself uses a vehicle that runs on hydrogen gas. He said that India is a country of youth, researchers and start-ups. Gadkari said that the fact that the top companies in the world have CEOs of Indian origin reflects India’s strength and talent. He said that we will also have to work on increasing the Domestic Happiness Index.
Congratulating the students, Gadkari said the degree which is given to them is not just an academic title but also a responsibility. He said that our country has the largest number of young, talented and skilled human resources in the world. These talented youth are also wealth creators for our country, so our attitude should be to give jobs rather than to ask for jobs.
The university conferred honorary degree of doctorate of science to Gadkari in the convocation.
Speaking on the occasion chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that under the leadership of Gadkari, world-class expressways, green corridors, logistics hubs and roads are being developed rapidly across the country. The Chief Minister called upon the youth to use their knowledge and skills in building a developed India.
He said that the State has implemented the national education policy (NEP)- 2020 and courses such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data are being conducted in the universities and research institutes of the State. Dhami said that the vision of the government is to make the youth future-ready. Incubation centres have been established to promote startups and innovation. He said that the country’s strictest anti-copying law has been implemented in Uttarakhand. As a result of which, in the last three years, more than 23,000 youngsters have been provided government jobs in the state.
Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, Vikasnagar MLA Munna Singh Chauhan, chairman of Graphic Era university Kamal Ghanshala, chancellor and member NITI Aayog VK Saraswat, vice chancellor Narpinder Singh attended the programme.
