Four men consuming alcohol in cars parked along the Ganga were arrested in Rodibelwala area of Haridwar by the police. The police post in-charge Anshul Aggarwal said that the four men drinking liquor in the car parked along the Ganga were apprehended by the police as part of operation Mariyada. Activities which desecrate the sanctity of the Ganga and other such sites are being checked by the police under this operation. Aggarwal said that the police were patrol when they spotted two cars from Uttar Pradesh at Shatabdi Ghat and found four men drinking liquor. The men were arrested while challans were issued for the cars under MV Act.He said that such acts along the sacred Ganga river will not be allowed, adding that the police will continue to take action against such persons as part of operation Mariyada.
