Four including two minors killed in Pauri accident

Four people lost their lives in a road accident near Silogi village in Dwarikhal Block  of Pauri on Tuesday afternoon. The accident however came in the notice on Wednesday morning.  According to the Police the passengers of the ill fated vehicle were travelling from Satpuli to Dehradun to attend a marriage ceremony when their car fell into a deep roadside gorge. The deceased have been identified as Kuldeep Singh (42), resident of Rithakhal, Deshbandhu (60), resident of Chaubattakhal, Komal (11) and Abhinav (7).

 Station Officer of Lakshman Jhula Police Station, Rakendra Singh Kathait said, “They were all from the same family. They were going to attend a marriage function in Dehradun. The road there is in not in a bad condition. Though, we cannot say for certain but it is highly probable that it accident occurred due to the carelessness of the driver.”

Giving more details he added, “Relatives of the deceased were trying to contact them on Tuesday afternoon when they didn’t reached their destination.  When they could not contact them they started searching. Till then we also had no information regarding any accident. Then we got information that some school students had heard distress calls near that area, but since they got scared they kept it to themselves.  Today at about 9.30 am, we went to rescue. The accident happened between 2.30 to 3 pm on Tuesday.”

It is also important to mention here that on April 26 also three persons had lost their lives in a road accident in Pabo block in Pauri district. With the increasing number of accidents in the district police have requested citizens to abide by the traffic rules in order to avoid such accidents.
