Four dead, three injured as Bolero carrying wedding guests falls into gorge in Nainital

 Four people died and three sustained serious injuries when a Bolero carrying wedding guests fell into a deep gorge in Okhalkanda area of Nainital district on Monday. Three persons died on the spot while the fourth died during treatment. The driver of the vehicl with about seven people, lost control and plunged into a gorge on the Kaunta-Patrani motor road, as per the officials. They informed that local residents reached the spot after hearing about the accident and began a rescue operation.

All the injured were taken to Sushila Tiwari Hospital in Haldwani in 108 ambulances. Doctors declared two men and one woman dead on arrival, while one more succumbed during treatment. The remaining three passengers are in critical condition, as per the officials. The police and administrative officials also reached the scene and began investigating the cause of the accident.

Many locals also claimed that this is not the first such incident in Okhalkanda. They expressed deep anger over the recurring accidents in the region and blamed poor road conditions, lack of safety barriers and absence of regular inspections for the tragedy. Locals demanded that the district administration should take immediate and concrete action to improve road safety in the area. The officials also stated that the police are investigating the matter and further action will be taken accordingly.
