Fortunate to witness historic Bhoomi Pujan at Ayodhya: Bhagat
Various programmes were held in the Bharatiya Janata Party state office here to celebrate the Bhoomi Pujan and foundation laying ceremony for the Ram temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday. The party workers made a floral Rangoli, watched the live coverage of the function from Ayodhya, there was a Sundarkand recitation and the events culminated with a Deepotsav after sunset. The BJP state president Banshidhar Bhagat, state general secretary (organisation) Ajey Kumar and other office bearers also participated in the events.
Expressing his views on the occasion, Bhagat said that after a long struggle lasting 492 years the occasion and development celebrated on Wednesday will be etched in golden letters in history. He opined that the credit for this goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he had facilitated this task with considerable sense. The BJP State president said, “We had not imagined that we would get the chance to witness this day in our lifetime. However, today we feel fortunate to have witnessed the Bhoomi Pujan for the Ram temple in Ayodhya.”
Reminiscing his involvement in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, Bhagat recalled that as the district head of the undivided Nainital district, he was the Sri Ram Kar Sewa Samiti district coordinator in 1989. He recalled that he had been arrested and had spent 23 days in the Almora jail. He said, “This moment is special for me. I am a devotee of Ram who has had the opportunity of playing the character of the lord’s father Dashrath for 45 years in Ramleela. Today is an emotional day for me,” added the BJP state president.
Later during the evening, the BJP state office was illuminated and crackers were also burst as a mark of celebration. Along with Bhagat and other party office bearers, State minister for Higher Education, Dhan Singh Rawat, MP Ajay Bhatt and others were also present on the occasion.
