Foreign tourist numbers rise in Valley of Flowers

The number of foreign tourists who have visited the world famous Valley of Flowers has increased this year compared to the previous year. The valley was opened to tourists in June and a number of Indians and foreigners have been arriving here since then. With a considerable number of flower species gradually coming into bloom, the number of tourists is also increasing.
Valley of Flowers forest ranger Chetna Kandpal informed that so far a total of 4,736 tourists have visited the valley. From June 1 to July 7, a total of 92 foreign tourists visited the valley while this number was 42 during the corresponding period in the previous year. About 350 types of flowers bloom in the valley during July and August and this is the time when the number of visitors also peaks.
