Govt to bring all major private hospitals in Ayushman scheme panel

The State government has told all the private hospitals operational in Uttarakhand in unequivocal terms that they have to be in the panel of the hospitals of Ayushman Yojana and State Government Health Scheme (SGHS). The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat told the house on the fourth day of the budget session on Thursday that in a recent meeting with the representatives of private hospitals he has made the position of the government clear that they should be in the panel of the hospitals of Ayushman and SGHS. These hospitals (all major and minor) have been asked to reserve at least some beds for the patients of Ayushman scheme and SGHS.

In response to a question of Bhagwanpur MLA Mamta Rakesh the minister said that a total of 4.87 lakh golden cards have been made under the SGHS and so far 1,15,098 patients have availed it’s benefit. The government has spent a sum of Rs 350 crore on their treatment. The minister further informed that apart from State government employees and pensioners the Health department has included employees of nine public sector undertakings in the SGHS. The process to include the employees of 26 more undertakings in SGHS is underway. In response to another question Rawat said that a total of 62,000 cancer patients have so far been treated under the Ayushman Yojana and the government has spent a sum of Rs 166 crore on their treatment. 

The minister informed the house that there are 12,017 cancer patients in the State.
