The Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daleep Singh Kunwar reviewed security arrangements on Friday in the Vidhan Sabha building and nearby areas ahead of the Assembly session scheduled to commence on November 29. He reached the Assembly building with other senior police officials to take stock of the security arrangements and gave necessary inputs to strengthen the security.

He directed the officials that the barriers must be installed as per the requirement and the police force to be deployed at each place should be assessed well in time. He also instructed the officials to ensure stringent security arrangements near the Vidhan Sabha building too.

The SSP further directed the officials to prepare a traffic plan in a way that ensures the general public does not face difficulties while commuting. Moreover, Kunwar also directed the officials to make suitable arrangements to manage traffic during peak hours in their respective police station areas and directed them to be present at the main intersections. He directed them to manage the traffic manually during the peak hour for smooth traffic operation.

It is pertinent to mention here that the road barricades and traffic diversions put in place for the Vidhan Sabha session cause major traffic congestion and inconvenience to the public in the provisional State capital. Stretches of the busy Haridwar Road, Haridwar bypass road and other connecting roads experience major congestion during the Assembly session even as citizens face major inconvenience and delays in reaching their destinations.
