FIR by Joshi in Ankita Bhandari case raises apprehensions

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun
Apprehensions from various quarters are being raised on the registration of a FIR by police on the complaint of environmentalist and Padma Bhushan awardee Anil Praskash Joshi in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Joshi has demanded that the “VIP” angle in the murder of Ankita Bhandari should be investigated. It is likely that the FIR by Joshi will be used as the basis of transfer of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Expressing his views, former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat said that Joshi is a very respectable public figure and no one doubts his integrity. However, he added that it would have been better if the FIR was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father. “The government should have requested the father of Ankita to file the complaint and some very capable persons should have assisted in drafting his complaint and a FIR should be registered,’’ he said.
The state secretary of Communist Party of India –Marxist Leninist (CPI- ML) Indiresh Maikhuri said that the FIR by Joshi has created a suspicion about the intention of the government in the minds of the people of the State. He said that Joshi has no role in the case and he is known to support the government. Maikhuri opined that it appears that the government is again planning to divert the case and cheat the people of the State.
