Festivals made healthier with almonds: A blend of nutrition & celebration

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Almond Board of California hosted a session- Festivals Made Healthier with Almonds: A Perfect Balance of Nutrition and Celebration. The discussion moderated by RJ Samreen saw actress Soha Ali Khan, celebrity chef Kabita Singh and Ritika Samaddar, Regional Head-Dietetics, Max Healthcare, Delhi, expressing their views.

Highlighting how festivities can be both joyful and healthy, Samaddar said, “Every year during festive gatherings, I notice people holding back from their favourite dishes because of health concerns. For instance, replacing ultra-processed snacks with natural, nutrient-rich options like California Almonds can make festive meals more nourishing. Often referred to as the king of dry fruits, California Almonds are packed with 15 essential nutrients, including protein, healthy fats, fibre, magnesium and zinc. They support blood sugar control, weight management, cholesterol reduction, and immunity—making them a smart addition to the festive spread. I also love gifting California Almonds to my loved ones as a way of sharing health and happiness.”

Talking about the habits that help her through the festive season, Khan said, “The festive season is always packed with family get-togethers and Diwali parties, and with shoots on pause, workouts often take a backseat. That’s when I fall back on a habit I’ve had since childhood- starting my day with California Almonds. They keep me full, support weight management, and give my skin a healthy glow.”

Following the panel discussion, Kabita took the stage for a live cooking demonstration, bringing her festive creation to life for the audience.
