Female history-sheeter banished from Uttarkashi for 3 months

Uttarkashi police have banished a female history-sheeter allegedly involved in illegal liquor trade from the district for three months. This action was taken under the provisions of Goonda Act, police said.
Police further said that acting on the directive of the
superintendent of police, Uttarkashi, Kamlesh Upadhyay, habitual offenders active in the district are being identified and strict actions are being taken against them.
“The woman history sheeter, Meena Devi is from Veerpur in Dunda,” informed the
inspector-in-charge of Uttarkashi Kotwali, adding that the accused had been involved in the illegal liquor trade for a long time and had several cases registered against her.
Based on the challan report prepared by the outpost in-charge, Dunda, Prakash Rana, the district magistrate had ordered the accused to remain banished from the limits of Uttarkashi district for three months under Section 3 of the Goonda Act, 1970.
In compliance with the order, the Uttarkashi police team formally banished the accused from the district for three months through a public announcement via loudspeaker.
The police also warned the accused that if she is found entering Uttarkashi district limits during the stipulated period, strict legal action would be taken against her under the Goonda Act.
The district police stressed that similar actions would continue to be taken against repeat offenders engaged in illegal liquor trade and drug trafficking among other crimes.
