CM unveils foundation for secretariat in Gairsain

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat unveiled the foundation for the secretariat building in the summer capital Gairsain. The secretariat will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 110 crore. In addition to this, the CM also inaugurated development works costing Rs 32.91 crore and unveiled the foundation for development works costing Rs 207 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Rawat said that forming a committee headed by the chief secretary for immediate and long term plans, the state government is working on the planned development of the summer capital. He said, “Today I had to walk to the Samadhi of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali at Dudhatoli. However, due to being unwell I went there by helicopter and paid my tributes. I want to walk to that place and soon I will do so. I also surveyed the Silkot tea estate by air. In the next 10 years we will spend Rs 25,000 crore on development of the summer capital Gairsain zone. We will also involve private investors in the development of this region,” said Rawat.

The development works dedicated to the public by the CM on the occasion include a mini stadium built in Malari, pedestrian route from ITI to Subhashnagar in Karnprayag, motor road from Ujjwalpur-Bainoli motor road to Airoli, reconstructed Kimdhar-Syan-Kishanpur motor road, reconstructed motor road to Nauna- the paternal village of Mahavir Chakra recipient Anusuya Prasad, oxygen pipeline at the district hospital in Gopeshwar, beautification of Bairaskund temple, section cum jetting machine for cleaning sewers in Badrinath and a number of other development works in Chamoli district.

The works for which the foundation was unveiled include construction of dam on Ramganga river for drinking water supply to Gairsain town and adjoining population, construction of hostel for medical officers and other departmental staff in Badrinath, construction of four rooms for travellers in Badrinath, construction of building for persons attending to patients in district hospital at Gopeshwar and construction of an oxygen generation plant at the same hospital, construction of 50-bed sub district hospital building and residential building at primary health centre in Gairsain and various other development works in the district.

The State minister for Higher Education, Dhan Singh Rawat, MLAs Surendra Singh Negi, Mahendra Bhatt and Chamoli district magistrate Swati Bhadauriya among others were also present on the occasion.
