The demand for a strict lockdown in the state to break the chain of contagion of Covid 19 is gathering momentum with the increase in the infectivity of the disease. On Tuesday the Uttarakhand Secretariat Association, the association of employees of the state secretariat demanded that the government should go ahead with a 15 day lockdown in Uttarakhand. In a letter to the chief minister, the association has said that the second wave of the Covid-19 contagion has taken the state into its grip and many people have lost their lives to the disease.

The president of the association Deepak Joshi said that the state government has taken measures like 50 percent attendance in offices and closure of markets after 12 am but it appears they are not able to prevent the infection from spreading. He said that the strict lockdown is needed to break the chain of contagion. Joshi said that the employees should be asked to work from home during lockdown.
