The passing out parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) was filled with pride, emotions and unforgettable moments. As the officer cadets crossed the Antim Pag Gate, their journey as trainees came to end. With the pipping ceremony, a new chapter began as they were commissioned as officers in the Indian Army. This moment marked the transformation of young cadets into Army officers.

This year, 525 cadets completed their training, including 34 cadets from 14 foreign countries. For many parents and grandparents, the dream of seeing their children in uniform finally came true. One such touching moment was seen when 92-year-old Amar Gaur from Rajasthan attended the ceremony to watch his grandson Yashwant Gaur become an officer. Amar Gaur said he was very happy and proud, as Yashwant is the first officer in their family. He added that watching the passing out parade was a special experience, as he had never seen such a ceremony before.

Another emotional moment came from the family of Sanidhya Bonthiyal, who became a third-generation Army officer. His father MM Bonthiyal, a retired Army personnel from Lansdowne, said he felt proud to see his son continue the family tradition of serving the nation. He described the moment as one of the happiest days of his life.

From Pithoragarh, MS Mahar, an Army officer himself, also shared his joy. His elder son Prateek Mahar is already serving as an officer, and now the younger son KPS Mahar has also joined the Army. He said he was extremely happy that both his sons chose to serve the country. He added that if he had another son, he would have gladly encouraged him to join the Army.

Many such stories of pride, sacrifice and dedication were seen during the IMA passing out parade. The ceremony once again showed the strong bond between the Indian Army and the families who support and inspire its officers.
