Tourists visiting Corbett National Park will soon be able to enjoy elephant safaris deep inside the forest along with experiencing the breath-taking views of wildlife and nature from watchtowers.
Informing this, the director of Corbett National Park, Saket Badola said that the park administration is planning to introduce elephant safari facilities for visitors in the Dhikala zone starting November. Approval for this proposal has been sought from the senior park authorities and once granted, both these attractions will be opened to tourists.
As per the plan envisaged, visitors will climb the watchtowers located on Sambar Road and Thandi Sadak in the Dhikala zone with a nominal entry fee and experience the scenic beauty of the world-renowned Corbett National Park.
A nature guide, Sanjay Chimwal said that the elephant safaris in Corbett had remained suspended for nearly 15 years. “Riding elephants, tourists can access deep forest areas where jeeps cannot reach and this will offer a unique wildlife experience. The watchtowers will also provide them opportunities for bird-watching and to experience panoramic views of the fascinating Corbett landscape,” he added.
Importantly, the Dhikala zone of Corbett National Park will officially open for tourists on November 14.
