Thursday, 31 March 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

The Congress MLA from Almora Manoj Tiwari raised the issue of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for the state government employees in the state assembly on Wednesday. Stating that when the MLAs can get the benefit of pension he questioned why the state government employees are being denied the same.

Tiwari raised the issue under rule 58 in the assembly on the day. He said that many Congress ruled states have implemented the OPS for the state government employees and the Uttarakhand government should also implement it. Tiwari said the employees covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) are getting paltry pensions due to which they are facing problems. In his reply the Parliamentary Affairs minister Prem Chand Agarwal said that any action on the issue of pension can be taken at the level of the Union government only.
