Eco-tourism core committee approves 7 proposals

Seven proposals worth Rs 79.83 lakh as announced by the chief minister were approved in the eco-tourism core committee meeting presided over by the principal chief conservator of forests (head of forest force) Rajiv Bhartari here on Thursday. The divisional forest officers concerned were directed to expedite work on the proposals passed as part of the chief minister’s announcements.

The committee approved proposal for construction of a park costing Rs 15.83 lakh near the Kumaoni Mandir at Chandrabani Khalsa. A trek route will be built till Kyari Nagtibba, Surkanda at a cost of Rs 10 lakh. Further, the committee also approved Rs 15 lakh for establishing a safari zone in the Fanto area of Terai west forest division. Further the trek route from Barsu to Dayara Bugyal and from Raithal to Dayara Bugyal will be improved. In Rishikesh, Rs 10 lakh will be spent on beautification of Sanjay Jheel and developing it into an adventure sports location. The committee also approved Rs 20 lakh for setting up eco trail/eco park at Bharadsain. Further, a sum of Rs 19 lakh was approved for development of camping site and construction of view point at Nagtibba, Andi, Burashti, cleaning and beautification of Nagtibba Tal. 

The member secretary of the committee, Parag Madhukar Dhakate informed that the approved amounts are being released to the divisional forest officers under the state sector eco tourism scheme for 2021-22.
