Man and daughter succumb, woman and son being treated in AIIMS
A man and his daughter died while his wife and son are fighting for life after the man reportedly poisoned his family before consuming poison himself in the Kaliyar area of Haridwar district on Wednesday night. It is being stated that the man was under debt due to his vices.
Resident of Solapur area in Kaliyar, Abhishek (22) consumed poisonous substance along with his family members late on Wednesday night.
According to the information received, Abhishek had left the house with his wife Meenakshi, two-year-old son and seven-month-old daughter after talking about going to the market. After some time Abhishek called home and said that he had poisoned his family and that he himself had consumed poison. He told his family members that he was in a garden near the village. Hearing this, the family rushed to the garden and transported, Abhishek, his wife and children to the hospital.
On reaching the hospital, the doctor gave primary treatment and referred the entire family to the higher centre where after treatment Abhishek and his daughter died, while his wife and son are under treatment.
Piran Kaliyar police station officer Manohar Bhandari said that the four members of the family were referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh. There the man and his daughter died on Thursday morning, while the condition of the woman remains critical. There has been some improvement in the condition of the son. The police officer further informed that during investigation it had come to light that the man may have taken this drastic step as he was reportedly addicted to gambling and drugs. He was under debt due to his vices.
