Tackling white collar crimes, women safety & traffic new DGP’s top priorities

The newly appointed director general of police Abhinav Kumar said that tackling white collar crimes, women’s safety and traffic issues across the State are among his top priorities. He said that personnel of every level will be trained considering the increasing instances of cyber crimes in the State.  He will also work on increasing police sensitivity in women related crimes. He stated this during a media interaction at Police Headquarters after taking charge of DGP on Thursday evening. Kumar said that police will efficiently tackle new challenges while maintaining the principles and teachings of traditional policing.

The police will emphasise making easy arrangements for the locals, tourists and pilgrims arriving in Uttarakhand and interacting with them using friendly policing. He said that police will also work on increasing the first responder capacity considering the State’s sensitivity to disasters. The police will continue to take strict action against drug related crimes to make the State drug-free. Besides the public, Kumar said that the welfare of policemen and tackling their issues like housing, health and good education for their children will also be his priorities. Peaceful but strong law and order is the identity of the State and this will be maintained in the coming years too, he added.
