In touch with MEA to ensure safety of our people in Ukraine– CM Dhami

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the state government is in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and
the Government of India for safety and return of the people from Uttarakhand residing in war affected Ukraine. He said that a total of 188 people have so far called on the toll free number issued by the state government and informed about their family members stranded in Ukraine. The CM was interacting with the media persons at the residence of former chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat on Saturday. He said that the Indian government is planning to evacuate the Indians stranded in Ukraine from neighbouring countries such as Poland. The Indians are being taken by the road route to the neighbouring countries of Ukraine because the air services have been stopped in the country and from there the Indian nationals are being evacuated, he said. The CM informed that the MEA is in constant touch with the officials in Ukraine and embassies of the neighbouring countries from where the Indians are being airlifted. Dhami said that he held a telephonic discussion with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval on Friday on the safety of the people of Uttarakhand in Ukraine and he assured that every possible effort is being made for the safety of Indians in Ukraine.

On the allegation of the Congress party that the Uttarakhand government reacted very late despite being warned on the issue of those stranded in Ukraine, the CM said that the Congress party has made it a habit to engage in politics on every issue.
