Doon University is scheduled to hold its entrance examination on June 22 to select candidates for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Announcing this, the university registrar, Durgesh Dimri said that the entrance examination is being held to shortlist students who have registered for the UG and PG courses at the university. A total of seven examination centres have been set up for this purpose with four located in Dehradun and the other three in Delhi, Lucknow and Haldwani. That the majority of centres are in Dehradun indicates that the highest number of student registrations have been recorded from the city. The examination will be conducted on computers across the centres and will occur in shifts.
In Dehradun, three centres will each conduct the exam in three shifts while the other centre will operate in four shifts. Besides, three centres in other states and cities will also manage the exam in four shifts. The shift timings are scheduled from 8 AM to 10 AM, 11 AM to 1 PM, 2 PM to 4 PM and 5 PM to 7 PM.
He further said that the students’ admit cards for the entrance examination have been updated on the university’s website on June 16, and most students have already downloaded their admit card. At each centre, a professor from the university has been assigned as an observer.
He further said that the controller of examinations and he would visit the centres in Dehradun during the entrance examination. “The results of the entrance examination are likely to be released on July 5 to be followed by the publication of the merit list on July 10,” he said, adding that the admission process at the university is set to begin on July 17.
It is pertinent to mention that the admission registration for both UG and PG programmes concluded officially on June 3 and they have received approximately 4,500 applications from students interested in these programmes. Earlier, Dimri had informed that along with the UG courses, the registration period had closed for three PG courses—Psychology, Economics and English—as admission to these programmes is based on an entrance examination. However, registration for other postgraduate courses had not closed on the university’s official website. Students could register for these courses as admissions would be determined based on merit instead of an entrance exam, he had said.
