The second convocation ceremony of Doon University would be held at the University campus on December 5. In the ceremony, 933 students would be awarded degrees.
In recognition of their exceptional services in public service, the chairperson of Hans Foundation Mangla Mata and Mahant Devendra Das of Guru Ram Rai Darbar Sahib would be awarded honorary doctorate (D.lit) in the ceremony.
Addressing media persons at his office on Tuesday, the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university, Chandra Shekhar Nautiyal said that in the convocation ceremony graduates and post graduates of years 2017 and 2018 and Ph.D scholars of 2019 would be awarded degrees in a graceful ceremony. The ceremony would be chaired by the Chancellor of the university and governor of Uttarakhand, Baby Rani Maurya. The chief minister, Trivendra Singh Rawat and state minster for higher education, Dhan Singh Rawat would also grace the ceremony. The VC added that in the ceremony, 39 meritorious students that include 16 of session 2017 and 23 of academic session 2018 would be awarded gold medals. He said that in the convocation ceremony, 554 graduate, 366 Post Graduates, two M.Phil and 11 Ph.D students would be awarded degrees.
The VC said that the university which started its academic activities from the year 2009 would organise its second convocation on December 5. He added that the in the ceremony all pending degrees would be awarded and from next year no pendency would remain in award of degrees and convocation ceremonies would be organised from time to time. It would help the students in getting admissions elsewhere after passing out from here or those seeking jobs. The VC claimed that the university is progressing on the path of development and academic excellence.
A full dressed rehearsal of the programme would be organised on December 4. The university administration has constituted different committee for successful organisation of the convocation ceremony.
The registrar of the university M S Mandrawal, Professor, centre for public policy chair H S Das and Dean Student Welfare (DSW) H C Purohit were present on the occasion.
