Doon sizzles near 40°C, relief unlikely today

Dehradun and other places in the plains sizzled with the maximum temperature rising degrees Celsius above normal and reaching 39.1 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

The State Meteorological Centre has issued a warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning / intense spell of rain / gusty winds (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, Champawat and Pithoragarh districts on Wednesday.

Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning / gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag and Udham Singh Nagar districts today.

Apart from this, very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts and light to moderate rain/ thunderstorms are likely to occur at isolated places in Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Surface wind may be strong and gusty (30-40 kmph) during the day time in plains of the State while dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts.

Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. Thunder cloud development is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 39 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun.
