Doon Police nabs UP robbers within 24 hours

The police caught four thieves belonging to Uttar Pradesh within 24 hours of a major theft in Patel Nagar area of Dehradun. The police said that Patel Nagar resident Alok Bhargav filed a complaint that his father had died on September 5 due to which he and his whole family went to their original residence in Rishikesh. When they returned to their home on September 19, they found out that the lock of their house was broken and all jewellery was missing. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daleep Singh Kunwar directed a special team to investigate the matter. The police team reviewed the CCTV footage of the area and identified the suspects. The police said that they gathered information about the suspects from informers and other sources that led to the arrest of four accused – Ashish Kashyap (23), Shahrukh (22), Tarun Sharma (22) and Rohit Tomar (21) on Tuesday. All the accused belong to Hapur district of UP. The SSP said that the arrested accused have confessed to their crime. According to the accused Sharukh, he came to Patel Nagar area a few days ago to meet his friend where they marked a locked house. The SSP informed, “Sharukh called his two friends Tarun and Rohit for a theft attempt in the house. According to him, Rohit has been jailed several times on robbery and theft charges in Ghaziabad district of UP. All of them broke into the locked house on September 18 and escaped with the loot. They were planning to return to their district on Wednesday but the police arrested them.” The accused Sharukh is a first year student of B Sc in UP and his accomplice Ashish has a B Tech degree, as per the police. The SSP has also announced to reward the police team with Rs 5,000 to nab the robbers within 24 hours with the loot.
