Doon police hold border meeting to ensure smooth assembly elections

Dehradun police held a meeting on Thursday with the officials of the bordering districts of Himachal Pradesh (HP) and Uttar Pradesh (UP) in view of the upcoming state assembly elections on February 14. The meeting was conducted at Dharmawala in Vikasnagar with the officials of Sirmaur district of HP and Saharanpur district of UP to discuss the issues that could potentially be caused by anti-social elements during the elections. The officials talked about taking action against such criminals of the districts for smooth conduct of the assembly elections. They discussed ways to prevent the smuggling of liquor and firearms by increasing patrolling in border areas and rivers besides regularly checking people and vehicles passing through the inter-state border including people involved in politics who can potentially disturb the election procedure. The Dehradun superintendent of police (city) Sarita Dobhal and superintendent of police (crime) Vishakha Ashok Bhadane were also present in the meeting.
