Doon DM directs the health dept to work on free treatment of HIV and diabetes

The Dehradun district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar has directed the health department to form committees to run diabetes and HIV control programmes in government and private hospitals of the district. The DM chaired a meeting of the S P S Rishikesh Hospital state medical management committee and district tuberculosis (TB) control committee on Monday.

He directed the TB control committee to declare those patients as TB champions who were successfully cured of the disease. To raise awareness among the locals about diabetes and HIV, Kumar also directed the department to make committees to run programmes and start work in providing free tests and treatment for diseases like TB.

Speaking on the budget presented by the members of the committee regarding SPS Rishikesh Hospital, Kumar directed them to prepare the budget considering the actual demand and added that the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Manoj Upreti will look into the budget expenditure.
