The secretary of the Health department, R Rajesh Kumar, has urged the public not to panic in view of some Covid-19 cases emerging in the nation. He said that the public should take essential precautions for protection from Covid-19. He said this during a discussion about the current active Covid-19 cases in Uttarakhand.
Kumar said that, to date, no active cases from this new wave have been reported in the State. Recently, two cases associated with the new wave were identified and both had come from other States. The two females who tested positive had come from Gujarat and Bengaluru. He said that both are in a stable condition—one has been discharged after receiving treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, while the other is in quarantine.
He further added that prior to these cases, the Health department had already provided guidelines concerning the new wave of Covid-19 to all district magistrates across the State, as well as to the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs).
These guidelines instructed them to enhance surveillance in light of the new Covid-19 cases. Kumar stressed that there is no need for people to panic, as this recurrence is not particularly dangerous and primarily consists of mild symptoms. He said in general patients can recover within a week from Covid-19 in this latest phase.
