DMMC to receive Subhas Chandra Bose Award from PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will confer the Subash Chandra Bose Rashtriya Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar upon Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre (DMMC) of Uttarakhand government. The award has been instituted by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to promote and recognise innovative and impactful work in the field of disaster risk reduction (DRR). The award will be presented in an investiture ceremony planned on January 23 in the Prime Minister’s office in New Delhi. The award is under institutional category for the year 2020 and carries a cash reward of Rs 51 lakh. The DMMC executive director Piyoosh Rautela has been invited to receive the award being conferred in recognition of innovative, high class and quality research in the field of traditional DRR practices of the people of Uttarakhand and seismic safety of built environment together with capacity building of masons and engineers in earthquake safe construction and masses at the grassroots level in search and rescue and first aid beside producing innovative, entertaining, purposeful and impactful print and audiovisual awareness material particularly in Hindi as also Garhwali and Kumaoni. 

According to Rautela, it is for the first time that a state government organisation is being conferred this award.
