Expressing dissatisfaction after observing dug up roads, heaps of debris and concrete material lying on the stretch of the road from Survey Chowk to Chuna Bhatta due to the ongoing construction work under the Smart City project, the Dehradun district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar directed the officials to finish the work within 15 days.

Due to the ongoing construction work of drainage system under the project on the stretch of the road between Survey Chowk and Chuna Bhatta on Raipur Road, commuters have to face issues like traffic jams and waterlogging. Besides, debris and concrete material was also not stored properly near the construction site. The DM observed all such issues during his site inspection and ordered the officials concerned to carry out the construction work systematically across the city rather than making the construction site a mess for the public. Besides instructing the officials of the Smart City project to finish the work on this site within 15 days, Kumar also directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to level the roads at all such locations where the construction work has been completed.

Following this order, PWD levelled the road near Survey Chowk on Sunday. Meanwhile, the DM also directed PWD and the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to immediately respond to any complaints regarding waterlogging or any kind of issues. “Any kind of irresponsible and ignorant attitude will not be tolerated by the administration,” asserted Kumar.
