Taking note of illegal encroachment and littering of Kalyani river, the Udham Singh Nagar district magistrate, Nitin Singh Bhadauria instructed the Rudrapur municipal corporation and Irrigation department to identify encroachment of the river and remove them. He stressed on a joint campaign involving the district administration, Revenue department, municipal corporation and Irrigation department in the encroachment removing and river cleaning works. Earlier, notices had been issued to over 500 encroachers.
The DM further said that encroachment on Kalyani river obstructs the flow of the river, leading to waterlogging and flooding.
