DM imposes Section 144 in Doon

With the announcement of assembly elections, the district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar has issued an order to impose Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) till March 10. According to the order, the gathering of more than four people will remain prohibited in public places except in the places like railway stations, schools, government offices and during the door to door visits of the candidates of the political parties. The order stated that activities like slogan shouting, use of loudspeakers, writing slogans on government buildings and making provocative speeches that might disturb communal or religious sentiments or mislead the public are prohibited too. No temple, mosque, church, Gurudwara or any other religious place will be used for election campaigns as per the order. Sharp-edged weapons like firearms, sticks, hockey sticks, swords or any other objects like stones or bricks which can be used for violence will not be allowed in public places too. The order stated that the violation of the order will be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
