DM expresses displeasure over slow construction of green building, orders to accelerate work

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal has expressed displeasure over the slow progress in constructing Uttarakhand’s first integrated green building in Dehradun. Calling it an ambitious project of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, he directed the executing agency to complete the work within the stipulated timeline. He instructed that an adequate number of workers, machinery and materials must be deployed at the site and that all formalities for the concrete plant’s approval be completed immediately.

He stated this during a review meeting of Smart City projects on Wednesday. Bansal said that all projects must be completed on time without compromising quality. He warned that at the 66 bus stops under the Smart City initiative, each stop has five digital devices installed and even if one device is found non-functional, the service provider, the HP company, will not receive payment. To strengthen traffic management, Bansal ordered that traffic lights be installed at 11 major intersections at the earliest.

He instructed that civil work at Dilaram Chowk, Kuthal Gate, Ghantaghar and Sai Mandir intersections, which are being developed in the local cultural style, must be completed before the monsoon. The DM also reviewed the integration of CCTV cameras with the Smart Control Room. For the first time in five years, 150 police cameras have been integrated with the system, he said. The DM also instructed authorities to complete RCC pipe installation and chamber construction for the drainage system at ISBT by June 5.

He asked the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to inspect and ensure the cleaning of drains at the Chandrabani site before the monsoon. He also directed immediate resolution of the overflow issue at Prince Chowk, where a sewer manhole remains incomplete and unconnected. He also ordered the officials that any damage to live camera cables or infrastructure linked with the Doon Integrated Command Control Centre must be traced to the responsible department and the matter be taken up in the board meeting for recovery of damages. He instructed the executing agencies to submit certificates confirming that completed work meets the required standards.
